Dominant instruments - There is a large ensemble of musicians usually between 16-30.

such as the sho (mouth organ), hichiriki (double reed flute), ryuteki (transverse flue), kakko
and taiko drums, the shoko (bronze gong) and the koto and the biwi (Lutes).

There appears to be no western diatonic scale influence in these scales, and the melody is very
monophonic (Long sustained melody). It is clearly meant to be slow meditative, music of spiritual influence.
